This site is about list top 50 LASIK laser eye surgeons
LASIK is a form of laser surgery to the eye meant to improve or correct issues with vision. The surgical procedure is performed by ophthalmologists, who are physicians specializing in eye disorders. LASIK is usually a preferred alternative to pRK (photorefractive keratectomy), as it is much less painful and requires less time for fulll healing. Prior to having LASIK eye surgery, the patient's corneas are examined with a computer driven sophisticated scanning device and the cornea is mapped out. This step of the procedure also picks up astigmatism as well as other problems in the shape of the cornea. The surgeon uses this data to determine the amount as well as location of corneal material to be removed during the surgery. The operation is carried out with the person awake and functional, but, the person is generally given a minor sedative and anesthetizing eye drops. The operating surgeon operates the lasers, which create all of the incisions. A flap is sliced in the cornea using a laser or a blade. Later, an excimer laser is used to remodel the cornea. The laser destroys tissue without creating injury or damage. Although relatively uncommon, complicating problems do occur with LASIK or any method of eye surgeries. Just some of the more frequently reported complications of LASIK can include: infection, dry eyes and light sensitive eyes, over or under correction, changes in vision, rings around lights, double vision, and troubles with the flap produced during the surgical procedure. Although LASIK technology is improving very rapidly, research studies have not completely defined long-term complications or damage. The surgery can't be reversed.
