LASIK is a form of laser eye operation intended to minimize or repair problems with sight. The surgery is carried out by ophthalmologists, who are physicians who specialize in disorders of the eye. The operating surgeon operates the laser machines, which produce all of the cutting. A flap is carved in the cornea using a laser or a blade. Later, an excimer laser remodels the cornea.
