This page is all about lasek eye surgery in washington
LASIK is a form of laser-guided surgery to the eye designed to improve or correct difficulties with eyesight. LASIK is performed by ophthalmologists, who are medical doctors who specialize in eye problems. LASIK is generally preferred to pRK surgery, as it is less pain-producing and requires less time to recover completely. Prior to LASIK eye surgery, the patient's corneas are evaluated with a computer controlled sophisticated scanning device and it creates a map of the cornea. This stage of the procedure also picks up astigmatism or additional irregularities in the cornea's shape. The operating surgeon uses this information to determine the location and amount of corneal material to be removed during the operation. The operation is carried out while the patient is awake and functional, even so, the patient is typically given a modest sedating agent and anesthetic eye drops. The operating surgeon operates the lasers, which do all of the cutting. A flap is sliced in the cornea using a blade or laser. Later, an excimer laser is used to remodel the cornea. The laser vaporizes tissue without inducing damage or injury. Although usually uncommon, complicating problems could occur with LASIK or non laser forms of eye surgeries. A few of of the more typically reported complications of LASIK can include: infection, dry eyes and light sensitive eyes, over or under correction, fluctuating vision, halos or starbursts around lights, doubled vision, and problems with the flap that was produced during the surgery. Although LASIK technology is improving quickly, research has not completely determined long-term complications or damage. The surgical procedure can't be reversed.
