LASIK is a form of laser-guided operation to the eye designed to improve difficulties with sight. The operating surgeon operates the laser machines, which make all of the cutting. A flap is cut in the cornea using a blade or a laser. Then an excimer laser is used to remodel the cornea. The laser destroys tissue without creating harm to the eye. Although relatively uncommon, complications or damage can occur with LASIK or non laser forms of eye surgeries. Just a few of the more frequently reported complications of LASIK typically include: infection, light sensitive and dry eyes, under or over correction, fluctuating vision, halos or starbursts around lights, double vision, and difficulties with the flap produced during the surgical procedure. Although LASIK technology is improving quickly, scientists have not proven long-term complicating problems. The eye surgery can't be reversed.
