LASIK is a type of laser eye surgery designed to correct problems with sight. The surgery is carried out by ophthalmologists, who are physicians who specialize in eye disorders and diseases. LASIK is ordinarily preferable to photorefractive keratectomy, or PRK, as it is less pain-producing and requires less time to recover completely.
