This page is all about Jeffersonville Lasik Surgery
LASIK is a type of laser-guided eye operation which is intended to rectify difficulties with sight. It is carried out by ophthalmologists, who are physicians or MDs specializing in disorders of the eye. LASIK is ordinarily preferred to pRK (photorefractive keratectomy), as it is not as painful and requires less time for healing. Prior to having LASIK surgery, the patient's corneas are analyzed with a computer controlled scanner and it creates a map of the cornea. This procedure also picks up astigmatism or other irregularities in the shape of the cornea. The eye surgeon uses this information to find out the amount as well as location of corneal material to be removed during the operation. The surgery is done with the patient awake, all the same, the patient is typically given a modest sedative and anesthetic eye drops. The surgeon operates the laser machines, which create all of the incisions. A flap is sliced in the cornea, which is the clear front part of the eye, using a laser or a blade. And then, an excimer laser remodels the cornea. The laser destroys tissue without causing injury or damage. Although relatively uncommon, some complications do occur with LASIK or non laser forms of eye surgeries. A few of of the more commonly reported complications of LASIK are: infection, light sensitive and dry eyes, over or under correction, changing vision, rings around lights, double vision, and difficulties with the flap that was made during the operation. Although LASIK technology is getting better quickly, clinical studies have not determined long-term complications. The lASIK procedure cannot be reversed.
