LASIK is a type of laser operation to the eye intended to improve or correct problems with eyesight. The surgical procedure is performed by ophthalmologists, who are medical physicians who specialize in eye disorders and diseases. LASIK is typically a preferred alternative to photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), as it is less painful and requires less time to heal completely.
