Welcome to this webpage about Chicago PRK surgeon
LASIK is a form of laser-guided operation to the eye meant to correct or lessen problems with sight. LASIK is carried out by ophthalmologists, who are physicians who specialize in eye disorders. LASIK is usually preferable to pRK eye surgery, as it is not as painful and requires less time to recover completely. Prior to having LASIK eye surgery, the patient's corneas are analyzed with a computerized scanner and it makes a map of the cornea. This process also picks up astigmatism or additional problems in the cornea's shape. The surgeon uses this data to determine the location as well as the amount of corneal tissue to be eliminated during the operation. The surgery is carried out with the patient awake and alert, however, the person is generally given a mild sedating drug and anesthetizing drops for the eyes. The eye surgeon operates the laser machines, which produce all of the cutting. A flap is sliced in the cornea, which is the clear front part of the eye, using a blade or a laser. And then, an excimer laser remodels the cornea. The laser destroys tissue without inducing injury to the eye. Although relatively uncommon, complications or damage can occur with LASIK or any type of eye surgeries. Just a few of the more frequently reported complications of LASIK include: infection, dry or light sensitive eyes, over or under correction, changing vision, rings around lights, doubled vision, and issues with the flap produced during the surgical procedure. Although LASIK technology is improving very rapidly, scientists have not ascertained long-term complications. The lASIK procedure is irreversible.
